Top 5 Most Frequently Asked Questions

Over the many years of doing Micropigmentation, I often get asked the same questions. Other than the prices which are listed on my site, here are the 5 most frequently asked questions:

  1. How much does it hurt? Though some micropigmentation can be uncomfortable, my guests often doze off, especially during eyebrow treatments. Admittedly, eyeliner can be a little more uncomfortable, as well as the cupids bow during a lip treatment. Our faces have certain areas where a condensed area of nerves can become sensitive during a treatment. Also everyone has different levels of pain tolerance that can fluctuate as well. Someone who was more sensitive for their first treatment may be less sensitive during a touchup. I also gravitate towards machine hairstrokes for eyebrows which is created with a micro puncture with a cosmetic tattoo device. It has proven to be less sensitizing than microblading which is done with a tiny blade-like configuration which creates an incision. Overall, I often hear that it was much less painful than they were nervous about.

  2. How long does it last?

Generally, my guests return at about one year though some return after two or more. It does depend on the clients skin condition, their activity in the environment and skin care products and treatments received. 3. How do you choose the shape?

I was trained a very meticulous protocol for shaping the eyebrows which I have refined and educated other artists on over the years. I use a specific formula based on your anatomy and facial structure. There is always room for adjustment depending on what our eyes tell us during the shaping process. I spend about 30 to 40 minutes prior to treatment determining your shape, and have you approve it before any tattooing begins.

4. How long will I need to hide after my procedure?

For all tattooing it's important to avoid steam, sweat, and hot sun for the first two weeks.

For Brows there's pretty much no downtime. You can go straight back to work and about your day as you normally would. The first day of treatment you might be a little pink and might get some flaking around day 7 to 10 but it's generally not very noticeable when I'm doing machine hairstrokes.

Lips do become much more flaky and go through a shedding process around a 3 to 5 you don't generally need to hide from the world or anything though. Lash Enhancement is also pretty minimal. You'll just need to be careful with any procedure when it comes to introducing bacteria to the area. This is especially important in the first 24 to 48 hours. Other than that healing is pretty easy.

5. How long does a treatment take?

The first appointment of any procedure takes the longest amount of time due to shaping time, any consultation and questions that need answering before treatment, and a little time for forms. Eyebrows generally take about 3 to 3 1/2 hours for the first appointment and closer to 2 to 2 1/2 for a touchup. Lips can get closer to four hours for the initial appointment depending on the look we're going for, difficulty of shaping and sensitivity of the client. Touchup is closer to 2-2 1/2. Lash line enhancement is generally the quickest, which is closer to 2 1/2 again depending on the sensitivity of the guest and touch up is closer to 1 1/2.
